Getting Around the College Admission Essay
The college entrance admission essay, personal essay or personal
statement provides the admissions board or department staff a means to
further evaluate your qualifications based on your personal qualities.
Each school or institution essay requirements can vary widely, but a
few standards are length; usually a short, one page document and the
focus on your extracurricular activates beyond your measurable
classroom accomplishments such as GPA and SAT and ACT scores. A
challenging aspect to the essay writing process begins by defining what
you believe is a quality topic to write about vs. what the reviewer
will identify with.
But how do you get around or bypass having to write a college admission
essay? One solution is start taking classes at the college or
university. You will then have an insider's view of exactly what the
department staff will determine to be quality applicant. Then, when you
do officially apply for a degree program you can easily complete this
requirement, but to learn how to get around the college admission essay

University Academic Calendar Planning for 2010
Take a few minuets and set yourself up right. A simple strategy to
identify and plan for important cut off dates can make you feel less
stressed throughout the semester or term.
The dates most students take note of are when classes being, holidays,
midterms, finals, and classes ending dates. Beyond these, there are a
number of other dates students should make note of depending on your
circumstances.
Important Dates to Keep in Mind:
- Orientation: These can differ for freshman or transfer students,
international students, or department specific orientations
- Residency Hall or Student Housing Opening
- New Student meet and greet: Often coordinated by departments or the
student government activity staff
- Laboratory Schedules: Check in and check out of equipment or
materials
- Tuition Fee Deadlines
- Adding a Class: To your current schedule deadline
- Dropping a Class
- Changing a Class Status: Switching to a withdraw, pass-fail, or
auditing a course
- Next Semester or Term Registration Begins
- Graduation Application
- Residency Hall or Student Housing Closing

Here's a final tip to keep you on track. Once you start classes, look
over your course syllabus and determine the date's your exams, tests,
or major assignments need to be submitted to the professor. Compare
this to the dropping or change in class status dates on the academic
calendar. This has always helped me plan my workload, based on which
class I can slack a bit on and put in more time on another class that
one bad test or assignment could spell disaster.

Student Loan FAFSA Options for 2010
The governments Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
provides the potential options for receiving college aid for qualifying
students. The application process evaluates the financial need of the
student based on their income and whether or not their parent's income
may be considered in the application process.
More then just a federal assistance loan program, the FAFSA also
determines if students qualify for federal Pell Grants and-or work
study programs. In addition, the student applicant's information is
passed onto the state and the school in determining if there are other
local aid programs that may apply. ***more on college admission...
Applying for the FAFSA can be completed electronically online or in
paper form which can be obtained from your schools financial aid
department. The most important item to keep in mind is the FAFSA
application deadline. If the deadline has passed, you still can apply
for the FAFSA but you'll have to apply using the paper form.
Keep in mind, your application can often take longer to process using
the paper form and submitting it after the deadline. However, if you
are approved for a subsidized or unsubsidized student loan it is not
uncommon for your student loan disbursement to take several weeks.
If you find yourself in this situation where classes are about to or
have already begun, discuss your tuition payment options with your
financial aid department, the student fees office, or the bursar office
at your school. Many schools provide the option to delay your tuition
payment or a payment plan option with student fees making up the bulk
of the first installment.

Missed Deadline for University Admission
College checklist in order? Didn't get all or part of the college
admissions paperwork submitted to the school in time. Any number of
incidents can derail the college admission process, and often many of
the issues can be out of your control. The most common complaint stems
from third party request for transcripts, SAT scores, or ACT scores
which are delayed or never arrive. A close second in the missed
cut-off date are college specific requirements such as admission essays
or reference letters.
As more and more schools incorporate technology into the application
process it has become easier to check on your application status as you
go through the admission steps. But in the event you did miss your
university admission deadline, some schools may allow you to appeal to
the board of admissions. Check with the school for their policies
regarding this option.
Never the less, the application process can be stressful. The suspense
of the waiting game, watching the mailbox for the application letter
hoping you got into the school can challenge any student's nerves.
Other options of getting into college do exist so even though you may
have missed the university application deadline you can still begin
taking classes, more...
